Is this service really free?

Yes. Checking your case with GotACase is 100% free. You won’t pay anything to use our platform, and most of the lawyers we connect you with only get paid if they win your case.

Can I use this if I already have a lawyer?

If you’re already working with a lawyer, we recommend staying with them. Our service is best for people who haven’t yet hired legal help and want to know if they may have a case.

What kinds of legal cases can I check?

You can check a wide range of cases including personal injury, car accidents, medical malpractice, class actions, workplace issues, consumer fraud, and more. If you’re not sure what category your issue falls under, our system will help you figure it out.

How accurate is the case screening?

Our system uses smart AI backed by legal criteria and reviewed logic to screen cases quickly and reliably. While it doesn’t replace a lawyer’s judgment, it gives you a fast and informed preview of where you stand.

What happens if my case isn’t accepted?

If your case doesn’t qualify, we’ll explain why — and we may offer suggestions on next steps or alternative legal resources. You won’t be left in the dark.

Do I get to choose which lawyer takes my case?

In most cases, we connect you with an attorney who is well-matched based on your location and case type. If more than one firm is interested, you may be given a choice.

Who are the lawyers you work with?

We partner only with licensed, experienced attorneys and law firms who focus on the specific types of cases we screen. Many of them work on a contingency basis, meaning they only get paid if they win.

Can I talk to someone before committing?

Yes. If your case qualifies, you’ll have a chance to speak with a real attorney before moving forward. There’s no obligation to commit or sign anything right away.

How do lawyers get paid?

Most of the lawyers we work with operate on a contingency fee basis. That means they only get paid if they win or settle your case — and their fee comes out of that recovery, not out of your pocket upfront.

Is my information kept private?

Absolutely. We treat your case information as confidential. We only share your details with an attorney if your case qualifies and you agree to be contacted.

Will I owe anything if my case is not successful?

In nearly all cases, no. If your lawyer doesn’t win, you typically owe nothing for their services. We’ll always let you know the terms before you decide to move forward.

Will this affect my current job, insurance, or benefits?

No. Simply checking your case or talking to a lawyer will not affect your job, insurance, or benefits. Everything you share is private, and taking legal action is your protected right.
